• Sterling Agro-Products Processing Private Ltd, (SAPPL) commenced its operations and has emerged as one of the leading exporters of baby corn, gherkin (tender cucumbers) in India
• FHCL was incorporated and it is the pioneer in the business of vending freshly brewed coffee in India.

A gigantic leap in store for SIG, as it incorporated Dishnet.

  1999

A memorable year for SIG as Dishnet rolled out its DSL service to become pioneers of Broadband service in India.

Besides, Aircel commenced operations in RoTN.

  2000

SIG's ceaseless efforts in the area of education got rewarded as Sterling software and education business was bestowed with ISO Certification 9000: 2000 from Det Norsks Veritsa Management System Certification, Netherlands.

  2002

One of the noteworthy traits of SIG is its incessant commitment to sustain the highest quality in all its areas of activity. This is evident from the fact that in 2002, Dishnet DSL won Infrastructure Excellence Award-Telecom" from Wisitex Foundation.

Yet another giant leap by SIG as it acquired RPG Cellular Service under Aircel brand. And a mini revolution of sorts by SIG as Aiwo limited commenced its operations, with a new concept of "certified wellness" through its specialized restaurants and SPA.

  2004

A year of buzzing deeds for SIG, and needless to say, loaded with laurels.

Dishnet DSL rolled out robust, cost - effective and secure IP VPN networking system over 42 cities. And DSL business was sold as an 'on going' concern to VSNL. SIG took yet another distinguished step in the food industry as it acquired Barista (rated as one of the best brand in India) from none other than Tata's.

Some more music to the ears for SIG. Aircel was rated No.1 in customer satisfaction according to voice & Data study 2004.

  2005

The success of Aircel continues … as it was rated No.1 in customer satisfaction according to IDC survey. The phenomenal growth of SIG by now became an established and widely recognized factor. SIG - moving ahead to become India's leading companies in the near future.

  2006

A year studded with massive business activities for SIG as it progressed on its success journey with confidence, verve and dedication.

• Sold telecom business to Maxis Communications Bhd and Apollo Hospitals based Reddy Family combines for $ 1.08 billion.
• Invested Approx $ 26.66 million in Sahara One Media & Entertainment Ltd for 14.98% stake, Sahara One is a big player in the motion pictures and a key player in the general entertainment channels in the Satellite & Cable TV scenario in India.
• Invested € 20 million in Winwind Oy for 40% stake, Winwind Oy is a manufacturer of 1 and 3 MW wind turbines.
• SPEL incorporated.
• Sold FHCl to Lavazza.

  2007

Acquired a controlling stake in Finland based WinWinD.

  2008

Made a foray into the shipping and logistic company by acquiring Norwegian shipping firm J.B. Ugland Shipping.
