Mumbai, 20 Feb 2008 : C Sivasankaran's WinWinD Oy, the Finland-based wind turbine maker has charted out a major expansion plan that envisages making Chennai its main hub and increase manufacturing capacity by over 20 times its current capability.
WinWinD has an installed manufacturing capacity to make 140 MW, distributed between 30-35 wind turbines of 3 MW each and about 40 MW wind turbines of 1 MW each.

Bangalore, 19 Feb 2008 : Siva ventures Ltd, the flagship company of he $2-billion Chennai-baed Sterling Infotech Group, has acquired the Norwegian shipping firm J.B.Ugland Shipping AS(JBUS), from J.B.Ugland Holding AS, for a tottal consideraition of around $300 million (Rs 1,200 crore), according to a press release.
The acquisition will propel the Sterling Group's business plans within the shipping and logistics industry. The all-cash deal was funded through a combination of debt and equity. JBUS will become a subsidiary of the group, Mr.Srinivasan Vaidyanahan, Group CEO Sterling Infotech Group, old Business Line.

Speaking to TOI from Singapore, Sivasankaran, chairman of Siva Venures said,"We have concluded he acquisition of JB Ugland Shipping(JBUS), which has a fleet of 40 vessels for $300 million. It is a 100% buy-out of the existing share-holders of the company. As regards the coal mines and iron ore mines, I cannot comment now." Sources said that he is close to announcing coal mine acquisitions in Indonesia and iron ore mines in Brazil. "Discussions with sellers are at an advanced stage, that is all we can say," they said.

Mr.Sivasankaran, who now heads the deversified Siva Ventures as the group chairman, confirmed the development.
JBUS is a Norway-headquartered shipping company with a fleet of 40 owned and long-term chartered vessels with an aggregate capacity of approximately 2 million deadweight tonnage (DWT). The company's fleet consists of a mix of tankers and chemical an bulk carriers. The fleet has an average life of approximately four years. It is also acquiring new vessels which will be delivered in phase over the next three years. The company's main operations are centred in Oslo, Norway and Singapore.
